Her music is powerful and sultry, combining soulful horn lines, potent lyrics, and indie singer-songwriter aesthetics. Her performances are both tender and bold, with spellbinding vocals, lush instrumentals, and endearing stage banter. She is a storyteller and groove maker inviting people together to explore the depths of our human experience through song.
Carrie released her debut EP “Good Tension” in 2023, and is now bringing her original music to life while putting down roots in the Pacific Northwest. She has performed regionally at venues including Nectar Lounge, High Dive Seattle, Tractor Tavern, Spanish Ballroom, and The Get Down, and at festivals including Oregon Country Fair and Bumbershoot. She also tours with soul/R&B artist Wes Watkins, indie-soul band Mama Magnolia, latin funk afro-soul band Reposado, and 90’s all-fem cover band Sideboob.

“Half of Me” is about making choices. After getting lost in the abyss of indecision, the sensation of clarity can be so deeply satisfying. This song explores the molasses-like stuckness we feel when our path forward is unclear, and the relentless nature of holding steady once we have made up our minds.
Carrie released her debut EP Good Tension in October of 2023, created with producer, engineer, and percussionist Kevin Matthews of Secret Canopy Recordings.
Each song explores a different representation of 'good tension’, whether that is embracing the pain of transformation ("Bothered"), honoring the love we deserve, even after being forgotten ("Adored"), holding both profound love and fear of loss in our hearts ("Maybe"), or recognizing the weight of our own agency ("Funny").
Carrie Jennings - vocals, flugelhorn & keys
Kevin Matthews - producer, engineer, drums & percussion
Jared Atol - mixing & mastering engineer
Thomas Jennings - guitar
Sean Dandurand - bass
“Half of Me” was recorded at Niles City Sound during the making of Mama Magnolia’s latest record 'Dear Irvington' with producers Robert Ellis and Josh Block.

I wrote this song during the pandemic the day I decided to uncover the window that looked out over the neighborhood trash cans. It serves as a reminder to appreciate whatever is in front of us, an invitation to unveil the truth deep in our hearts.
Listen to “Maybe” performed live as a trio from the Tractor Tavern in Seattle, WA.
Carrie Jennings - vocals & guitar
Thomas Jennings - guitar
Drums - Joey Zielger
